Church Groups

Church Council

The Church Council is the local administrative body of our Church. Members are elected during the Annual Meeting, normally held the first Sunday in February following the 10:30 a.m. service. Currently there are 17 members, including 14 elected to Church Council, the Chair of the Ministry and Personnel Committee, a representative from Centre Eardley Church, a representative from the Board of Trustees, the Presbytery representative, and the Minister. Note: Some individuals are both members and representatives.
Branches: Administration, Pastoral Care & Outreach, Worship & Education, Finance & Maintenance
Stand-alone Committees: Nominating Committee, Ministry and Personnel, Bellevue Cemetery, Presbytery Representative, Stewardship, Trustees

Pastoral Care Team

The Pastoral Care Team at Aylmer United Church assists the Minister to connect with and show caring concern for those in our congregation who for one reason or another are not able to be as actively involved in the church as they might like to be.
Regular friendly visits help us keep connected with each other, and strengthen our relationships.

Our Pastoral Care Team meets regularly throughout the year for continuing education and support, and sponsors occasional educational events for the congregation.

Offerings Team

Volunteers are always needed to take up collection and count the offering after church. Please let us know if you can help out. You can sign up at the back of the church or contact us with the date(s) you can take and count collection.

Reminder: If for some reason you have volunteered but cannot take collection on a particular Sunday, please arrange for someone else to do it and advise us in advance.

United Church Women

Women of the church are invited to join the United Church Women Group (UCW) and find out how we grow in faith, share in community, and serve.  We meet quarterly to discuss upcoming events and to share lunch together. .

Contact us for more information!

Choir

Do you like to sing? We'd love to have you join us! We are a small group and four-part harmony isn't always possible because of a lack of choir members.

Being able to read music is an advantage, but it's not necessary - some of us can't. Our choir practice usually takes place alternate Thursdays (except during the summer months) and at 10 a.m. before Sunday services. Contact the organist for more information.

Book Club

Every second week or so our book club meets mid-week to relax over a cup of tea and to chat about books that help us to explore our spiritual  growth and to share ideas about what it means to be a spiritual person in today's changing society.

A couple  of the books we have read to date include:
The Heart of Christianity (Marcus Borg)
An Altar in the World (Barbara Brown-Taylor)

Keep your eye on the events calendar to find out what our latest read is going to be! We hope you will join us!
